A series of difficult choices, painful relationships, and a 17-year battle with addiction eventually led me to prison. In that dark place, I lost everything I owned, and, more importantly, I lost sight of who I was.
But what felt like the end of my life became the beginning of something new.
Losing everything forced me to confront the reality of where my choices had taken me. Rock bottom became the foundation from which I rebuilt my life. It was there that I discovered hope, purpose, and the courage to believe that change was possible.
I will always be grateful for the second chance I was given.
The support I received through the Yellow Ribbon Project, Jade Lewis, and the community that surrounded me helped me see a future beyond my past. They believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself, and that support became a turning point in my journey.
Today, I have been clean and sober for more than 14 years.
What once caused so much pain has become my greatest purpose. I now lead a women’s recovery program within one of Western Australia’s largest recovery initiatives, supporting women who are facing the same battles I once fought. Every day, I have the privilege of helping others discover that recovery is possible and that their story is not over.
Beyond my work, I am happily married, a proud homeowner, and living proof that a life once defined by addiction can be transformed into one marked by hope, stability, and purpose.
My story is proof that people can change.
When someone is given support, belief, and a second chance, recovery is possible, families can be restored, and lives can be rebuilt.
Change is possible. Hope is real. And no one is beyond redemption.
