Second Chance Choir

Second Chance Choir is an award-winning choir made up of people who have lived through prison, addiction, domestic violence, and crime, standing alongside their mentors and families.

From Hardship to the Stage

The Second Chance Choir is made up of people who have overcome incredible hardships, including former offenders, men and women who have battled addiction and life-controlling challenges, and those who have walked alongside them in their journey to recovery.

Together they have performed at three City of Perth Christmas Productions and various community events across Western Australia, sharing a message of hope and redemption through song. As they sing Amazing Grace, each member brings their own story, expressing gratitude for the second chance they have been given.

Where It All Began

In 2009, Jade Lewis was running a support program inside a women’s prison when she noticed something that stopped her in her tracks. The women around her had lost their voice. Not just literally, but in every sense of the word.

Having walked her own road through trauma and addiction, Jade understood what that silence meant. So she did something unexpected. She started a choir.

What began as a simple idea inside a prison wall has grown into one of Western Australia’s most unique and powerful community programs, bringing together people from all walks of life who share one thing in common. They deserve a second chance.

Singing in Prisons

Founded in 2022 with one simple vision: to bring hope to our city through story and song. It all began with Amazing Grace.

The choir is made up of people who’ve walked through prison, addiction, and hardship, standing alongside mentors, friends, family, and anyone who believes in second chances.

Each voice carries a story. Together, we sing of grace, freedom, and new beginnings. Through our choir, we sing for and to those still searching for their second chance, while celebrating those who have found theirs.

From city streets in Australia to prisons across Indonesia and the Philippines, the choir has become a movement and a reminder that no one is ever too far gone.

By the grace of God, everyone deserves a second chance.
